I am sending this letter to let you know how pleased I am with your analysis of my story “Homeless Vanda.” The points you focused on were just what I needed. Never did I realize how essential conflict, obstacles, and a great character arc are to any story. Although I see them in all my favorite movies, I guess I never realized it was all on purpose or how to work it out on paper. I took for granted what I WANTED to convey, instead of ACTUALLY conveying it. Your suggestions are perfect and really opened my eyes to important areas which, in my novice ability, I overlooked. Guess all amateurs face the same thing: how do we make our writing better? I appreciate your solid input and time. I thought about it long and hard, and for my (40th) birthday last Sunday, I gave myself a present and decided to get an analysis. Well, if I had only done this before I submitted so many pitches I would have saved a lot of money! The words ‘thank you’ fall short in what I am trying to say. Never in a million years would I have thought, especially since this was my first coverage EVER, your feedback would be so detailed and thorough. I appreciate the excellent objective job you did on my story. Now for the fun stuff, the hard and focused editing. The odd thing is I know I can do it! Thank you again, David for your encouragement, insightfulness, and honesty.
